# Menus

> Understand how to manage, preview, copy, and synchronize your menus.

You can create several menus for the same restaurant. However, customers can only see one of them at a time: the **active menu**.

This lets you prepare another menu without replacing the one your customers currently see.

## Choose which menu customers see

The active menu is the menu that opens when customers scan one of your QR codes or visit your restaurant link.

When you activate another menu, it immediately replaces the menu customers were seeing. The previous menu remains saved in Mutfaaq and can be activated again later.

  Changes saved to the active menu become visible to customers immediately. You do not need to publish the menu again after editing it.

## Preview a menu

You can check a menu before making it active.

From the menu editor, select the **Preview menu** button at the bottom center of the screen. Mutfaaq opens the menu as your customers will see it, including its categories, products, prices, images, and available translations.

Previewing a menu does not make it active and does not change the menu currently visible to customers.

  Preview your menu after making important changes and before switching the active menu.

## Reuse a menu from another restaurant

If you own several restaurants, you can reuse a menu instead of rebuilding it from scratch. The restaurants must use the same source language and reference currency.

| Method            | How it works                                                                                                                    | Best for                                                       |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Independent copy  | Mutfaaq copies the menu once. The new menu can then be edited without changing the original.                                    | Restaurants with similar menus that need to evolve separately. |
| Synchronized menu | The menu stays connected to its source. Changes to its content are sent from the source restaurant to the connected restaurant. | Restaurants that need to maintain the same menu content.       |

With a synchronized menu, the destination restaurant still chooses the menu’s internal name and decides when to make it active. Promotions, availability, and stock can each remain synchronized or be managed locally.

  Synchronization works in one direction: changes move from the source menu to the connected menu, not the other way around.

## Make a synchronized menu independent

Use this when a venue must keep its current menu but stop receiving future changes from the source menu.

    In **Synchronized menu**, check the source menu and the current synchronization status.

The menu keeps its current content, promotions, availability, and stock values. It can then be edited normally, but future changes from the source menu are no longer applied.
