Options let customers customize a product. For example, a burger can offer a choice of side, a cooking preference, or paid extras. Options are organized into modifier groups in Mutfaaq. A group defines what customers are choosing and how many options they can select.
An option belongs to the current menu, not to a single product. You can manage all menu options from Modifiers in the sidebar and reuse the same option in several groups or products.

Open the product

From Edit menu, select the product you want customers to customize.

Create a group

On the product page, find the Modifier groups section, then select Create modifier group. The new group is attached to this product.

Name the group

Enter a customer-facing name, such as Choice of side or Extras.Keep Translate modifier group name enabled unless the name must remain unchanged in every language.

Choose the selection rule

Decide whether customers must make one choice, may select any number of options, or may select up to a maximum.

Add options

Select Add modifier, then choose Create new or Use existing.A newly created option is added to the current menu’s option library. It then appears under Modifiers in the sidebar and can be reused in other groups.

Use a required choice only when the product cannot be presented correctly without a selection. Use optional choices for extras and preferences that customers can skip.

Set option prices

An option can have a default price that follows it wherever it is reused in the menu. Leave the price at zero when the option is included at no extra cost. You can also set a different price for one specific group. This price override changes the option only in that group without changing its default price elsewhere. For example, Avocado may normally cost 2 USD, but cost 1 USD when offered in a special meal group.

Reuse groups on other products

You do not need to rebuild the same group for every product. From a product, select Import modifier group, choose a group from another product in the same menu, then decide how it should behave: You can also use Share group to attach an existing group directly to several products.
Before editing a shared group, check the list of products using it. Your changes will appear on every linked product.

Make a shared group independent

Use this when the group should stay on one product but its future changes should no longer affect the other products sharing it. From the product’s Modifier groups section, find the shared group, select the unlink icon labelled Make independent, then confirm. Mutfaaq copies the group and its entries for the current product. The other products keep sharing the original group, while the new group can be edited independently. The underlying menu modifiers remain reused rather than being duplicated.

Manage option availability and stock

Each option has its own visibility and stock state:
  • an inactive option is hidden everywhere it is used;
  • an out-of-stock option remains visible but cannot be selected.
An option can also share stock with a product in the same menu. For example, link the Extra fries option to the Fries product. When Fries is marked out of stock, Extra fries automatically follows the same stock state. Use independent stock when the option does not depend on the quantity of another product.
